Evaluating Quality of Research in Italy

Italy is trying to put new rules for evaluating and possibly boost research in Italy, through the creation of a national agency. That may sound good, but according to to Lavoce.info (Italian only) there is the risk that the new entity will be heavily biased by politics. The ministry of research, Mussi, is spending his time critiquing his party (Democratics of the Left) decision to merge with a centrist party of the same ruling coalition, to create what he is going to be the Democratic Party.
